LASER HAIR REMOVAL At Kelowna Laser Hair Removal & Skin Care Ltd. we know that there are some significant differences between laser hair removal machines so we use the GentleLASE Plus which is an Alexanderite type laser. Using this state-of-the-art equipment we are able to more quickly, effectively and comfortably remove unwanted hair than with other machines. With our laser most people will see an amazing 80%-90% permanent reduction with 6 treatments, although additional treatments may be necessary depending on skin and hair coloring, density per treated area and genetics. Frequently Asked Questions Is It Permanent? The FDA has cleared select lasers, including the GentleLASE™ Plus, for marketing as "permanent hair reduction". This means that the hair follicles that are disabled by the laser will not grow back. Laser is only effective during the active growth stage of hair so more than one treatment is necessary to achieve desired results. How Does It Work? Laser’s That are cleared for permanent hair reduction use powerful light sources that are designed to be absorbed by the pigment (melanin) in the hair follicle. By absorbing this laser energy, the hair follicles are disabled, impairing their ability to grow. How Many Treatments Will I Need? The laser can only disable hair follicles during the growing stage. Although one laser session can result in several months of hair reduction additional treatments will be necessary to take care of other follicles when they re-enter the growth phase for permanent results. Generally 6 treatments are required for best results although it could be more or less than 6 depending on skin and hair coloring, density per treated area and genetics. What Areas Can Be Treated? Any are of the body can be treated with the exception of eyebrows. Does It Hurt? You may experience an uncomfortable stinging sensation during treatment similar to the quick snap of an elastic. Some areas of the body are more sensitive and you may want to use a topical anesthetic. The GentleLASE™ Plus uses a Cryogen spray to help reduce the discomfort. Side Effects? Although side effects occur infrequently and are generally temporary the possibility exists. These can include: Temporary pigment change, swelling, redness, bruising or a histamine reaction. |
